As discussed in a previous post, Academia Arcana had relatively little on the cutting room floor. But I did cut out alignment. Yes, the creatures of order and chaos can choose even a teenager, but that wasn’t the focus on this game. However, it did get written into the game. Seeing as I have spent a considerable amount of time putting out the PDFs for AA RPG and the Wizard’s Vault zines, sending files to the printer, making VTT tokens, and a ton of other things in the past couple weeks, it’s taking up a lot of brain space.
As a side note, even though the campaign is over, pre-orders are open! Go grab a copy. We’re about 3 months out from the print run being done, but you can get the PDF now!
Alignment Overview
Law: Creatures that adhere to strong codes of conduct, hold to tradition, and value ideals such as order, authority, and justice. If taken to an extreme, agents of law are totalitarian fascists.
Neutral: Creatures that lack a stance in relation to the Forces of the Universe or stand strong for the Balance.
Chaos: Creatures that believe in limitless freedom and creativity. They see organizations such as guilds, schools, and governments as oppositional to the natural disorder of the universe. If taken to an extreme, agents of chaos are anarchic terrorists against all structure.
Classes
Academic Wizard: Alignment: Most academic wizards come from troubled backgrounds, making lawful tendencies uncommon. However, dutiful study and classroom organization is not a machination of chaos. The majority of students find themselves self-serving in nature and tending to neutrality.
Soul Mage: Alignment: Soul mages derive their powers from a purity of heart, and such purity is most often an aspect of lawful tendencies. In rare circumstances, their powers instead come from the chaos of manipulating hearts.
Spell Thief: Alignment: Spell thieves lack or disregard typical tutelage and are rarely lawful. While their innate grasp of the forces of magic often means they begin their lives on the balanced path. They are often given to take freely and become willful agents of chaos.
