Interview: Josh Yoder
Josh has been hard at work since H20-pocalypse came out! He’s started up his own Patreon, Crimson Adder Curiosities, and has been putting out a steady stream of gaming material. I took a moment to ask him a few questions about his patreon and what the future is looking like over there. He’s making stuff for all kinds of systems!
Hi Josh, you’ve somewhat recently started the Crimson Adder Curiosities patreon. How’s it going? What are you trying to achieve in the first year?
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to talk about my slice of the internet. It’s been an awesome ride, I would say the Patreon is going really well. I would say my only goal is to make stuff I think is cool and share it with others.
You create gaming material for a variety of systems: DCC, WHPA, Shadowdark, Mork Borg, etc. Is there a master plan to get fans of all systems on the patreon or are you simply letting your “inner muse” guide your path there?
It's all inner muse. I am currently writing my own system, and my Patrons are in a lot of ways following along the journey, as I am taking as I look at other systems for inspiration.
I’d bet that part of this is a plan to expand H20-pocalypse and force yourself to create more material in a somewhat timely manner. Or, at least, I have heard that you’re planning at least one more zine for that. What’s the future looking like there?
100% I have 4 modules written for H2O as well as a book on extra classes planned, I have also been slowly converting past blog posts into mini digital zines.
Wanna drop any hints about what the future holds over on the patreon?
There will be more RPG craziness, for sure. I am going to start releasing digital trading cards with Xcrawl content inspired by the Dungeon Crawler Carl Book series, which will eventually lead to a mega-dungeon I plan to run for my friends. Of course, I plan to share all of that with my patrons.
Fine-tuning a Pirate Borg module right now.
In October, I plan to do a Neon Lords series called Creepsylvania, giving the neon slime treatment to Hammer Horror monsters.
Most likely more Shadowdark content, folks really seemed to like the last one-page module I did, and it was fun to write.
And of course plenty of H2O Stuff.
Thanks for sharing with us! Anything else you want to make sure that folks hear about?
Keep an eye out for two upcoming projects: Myco//Drift (bio mech suits vs giant bugs inspired by 90s anime) and A Noble Death (16th century disgraced French nobles sent into the countryside to investigate the death of other nobles, all leading to deaths being sinister and arcane in nature. Inspired by The Averoigne Chronicles, Brotherhood of the Wolf, and The Vourdalak, using my system “The Drift System,” an ashcan version of both zines should be released on my Patreon next month.
What do you want to see come out of Crimson Adder Curiosities? Tell Josh what you'd like to see!
